Pursuing the American Dream: What to Expect When Buying Your First Home

Congratulations! You’re about to become a homeowner and experience the pride of living the American dream. You won’t have a landlord or parent to set limitations and you can do whatever you want (provided you pay your mortgage company on a regular basis!).

Although this is an exciting time, buying your first home can be very overwhelming. Undergoing the process of securing a loan, finding a real estate agent, scheduling showings, making an offer and scheduling inspections and appraisals can be intimidating. Negotiating the terms and making sure all your “t’s” are crossed and “i’s” are dotted can produce anxiety and stress.

This website and my Worcester, MA Real Estate blog are designed to give you an overview of what to expect when purchasing your first home. From the initial stages of deciding to purchase a new home and making an offer to closing and moving, there are many obstacles you’ll need to overcome. It’s important you prepare yourself by learning what to expect during the home buying process.

Jack Morrison: Worcester, MA Real Estate Attorney

For first-time homeowners, I like to make the real estate process simple, straightforward, and easy to understand. That means minimizing the legal jargon and complicated paperwork you have to deal with. You don’t have to be a lawyer, but during the transaction there will be some legal elements you’ll need to be aware of.

Again, congratulations on your new, or soon to be new, home purchase.
